Bracken with Blues and Greens The colour of the shiny bronze bracken against the haze of the turquoise sea and sky moved me to create this oil painting. St Michael’s Mount features centred on a horizon formed by the land of Mounts Bay. The Mount is present without dominating. Playful mark making in the bracken brings the scene to life, as does the white butterfly, a later addition that confirms the sense of movement and vitality in the foreground.

Details: Oil on stretched canvas, framed in a solid wood floater-style frame painted in white satin (mid sheen). Canvas: 70 × 70 cm.
